Since it’s launch a few years ago Nicole Richie’s jewelry line, House of Harlow, has become one of the most popular amongst celebs and the general public – it doesn’t hurt that the price points are so forgiving!

2009 Xmas Fashion Gift Guide
December 3rd, 2009Tis’ the season to go shopping!! One of my favorite pass times whether it be for myself or those closest to me.
As much as I love to shop though, you won’t find me anywhere near a mall come December. I prefer to skip the lines, the fighting over parking spaces and the freezing weather, grab my laptop and my cozy slippers, kick back on the couch and get down to business! Trust me, it makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable when there is no strange woman elbowing you passive agressively to get to the front of the line…
So for all the fashionistas on your list, I give you my holiday fashion gift guide for 2009 courtesy of Singer22.com!
I’m a Kain label addict and your lucky recipient will surely become one too once she feels how silky soft these tops are (probably helps that they’re made with 10% silk!) The newest addition to the line has some beautifully rich colors such as this one that would look great paired with a cropped blazer and jeans.

September 4th, 2009Nation Ltd. by Jen Menchaca
June 18th, 2009

Jen’s rise to fashion designer is a somewhat unlikely story. In fact, her father always wanted her to follow in his footsteps and become an engineer for NASA but Jen never had the passion for this and she wasn’t exactly feelin’ the whole spacesuit thing.
After earning a B.S. in Advertising from U.T. she moved to NYC and landed a job as a cocktail waitress. A few years later, Jen decided to relocate to LA where she found herself working for David E. Kelly productions on the off beat dramedy, Ally McBeal.
Jen was always a fan of her father’s white v-necks because they were so soft and comfy. However, the pit stains and yellowing could be a bit distracting and thus made them unwearable in public. This is what inspired her to create her own version of the perfect, worn in men’s inspired t-shirt. People loved it and it quickly became a side business for Jen. She juggled both careers for some time but before long Nation Ltd. got so big that it became her full time business. With so many celeb fans of the brand, it’d probably be easier to name who hasn’t been spotted in Jen’s designs rather than who has. What began as a love of her Dad’s old t-shirts, blossomed into quite a cult following.
These days her line includes dresses, tunics and of course, t-shirts. Jen’s not stopping there though, look for leggings due out this Summer!
Although Jen didn’t exactly follow in her Dad’s footsteps, something tells he’s pretty proud of her.
Fashionspiration: Audrey Hepburn
June 5th, 2009
It’s no secret that this woman is a fashion icon. She didn’t follow trends, she set them.
Audrey was the epitome of grace, elegance, style and poise.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Funny Face. No surprise there, since the entire film centers around fashion.
And how about Breakfast at Tiffany’s? That infamous black dress she wore was none other than Givenchy people!!
Audrey is often still a muse for designers when planning their newest line or laying out their runway shows. She’s classic and her beauty and sense of style are timeless.
I love you Audrey!

Born Uniqorn

Born Uniqorn is a collaborative effort by actress BFF’s of many years Taryn Manning and Tara Jane. The message behind their line is to be true to yourself, or be unique, hence the quirky spelling.
Says Tara “We design for the girl on the go. Taryn and I are very busy, and we never know where the day is going to take us—that’s why you can take Born Uniqorn from day to night.”
They wanted the pieces to be accessible to the masses too so they range from $50 – $175.
The line runs the gamut from hoodies to jackets, tanks to dresses and sweats to leggings.
Find it at Fred Segal, Ron Herman and at Singer22 online.
Joaquin Phoenix launches a clothing line
April 1st, 2009
When Joaquin Phoenix started showing up on TMZ in a crazy beard and sunglasses, we assumed he’d either become a junkie or was preparing for a role, but when he started trying to rap on stage…it was obvious something else was going on. Eventually, people realized that Phoenix’s entourage included brother-in-law and wanna-be filmmaker Casey Affleck directing a team of videographers, indicating that this whole affair must be some kind of publicity stunt.
Well the guessing is over and we were all right, it was just a stunt! Introducing MESH HAT, a new mens clothing line designed by Phoenix himself!
On Friday in New York City, Joaquin Phoenix is set to launch “Mesh Hat” in front of a select gathering of media and industry professionals. The line, reportedly designed entirely by Joaquin is based around quirky synthetic fabrics and challenging color combinations cut in an easy, relaxed fit that runs couter to the emo styles of today. In a nod to his animal rights activism, his entire line is certified cruelty free, and uses no animal-based materials or byproducts, instead focusing on layers of structured nylon and other synthetic fabrics to create a fashion-forward but very wearable look.
Pricing and availabilty are undetermined and the bulk of the details will be revealed Friday at the event in New York, but a few details can be gleened from the press release. Wondering how he suddenly made a move into fashion? Joaquin himself says:
“I found myself becoming very depressed when looking into my closet one day last fall and I decided to throw everything out except for a few pair of jeans and a trashbag that I wore as a shirt for a while. At some point, I lost my jeans.”
And what’s the significance of the brand name?
“I like mesh hats. Sometimes people call them trucker hats. I think I lost a shoe around here somewhere.”
We’ve been given a sneak-peek through an unnamed media contact and have agreed not to share photographs of the line, but we have been given permission to post a number of the original sketches. Give these sketches a peek and we think you’ll agree that Joaquin Phoenix has discovered a new talent!

Mirror/Dash
March 12th, 2009Perhaps you’ve heard of a little band called Sonic Youth? Well if you haven’t, it’s quite possible that you’re living under a rock.
Kim Gordon, the front woman behind the alt rock band has teamed up with her friends Erin Wansbrough and Jefferey Monteiro to design Mirror/Dash exclusively for Urban Outfitters. The line’s name is taken from Kim’s musical side project with partner Thurston Moore. Hang tags feature Kim’s own artwork!
Kim says she’s always been inspired by the south of France and that fresh Parisian style. This is very reminiscent in the clean lines and simplicity. All the pieces are very cohesive and include a few wrap dresses, high waisted skirts, and cute tees.
Prices range from $54 – $98.
My Fashion Muses
March 10th, 2009When I’m feeling uninspired or fashionally challenged, I look to these ladies for inspiration.
Ashley Olsen has a style all her own. Which isn’t easy to achieve when you’ve been blessed with your very own doppelganger. Casual, cool and confident, she always leaves me wanting more.
Kate Lanphear is the uber chic Senior Style Editor for US Elle. Her looks often include lots of black and/or neutrals. Her clothes are impecably tailored and she knows how to put together one hell of an emsemble. No one’s questioning how Kate got her job!
Leighton Meester’s style exudes sex appeal but in a flirty, girly sort of way. She often reminds me of an old movie star. She has that whole understated glamour thing down pat.
