Kasil X Taylor Jacobson

July 9th, 2010

Taylor Jacobson

Rachel Zoe’s former assistant can now add designer to her resume.  Since leaving Camp Zoe last Fall, Tay has been a busy little bee.  Her first design project is a collaboration with Kasil denim that is being sold online at Revolveclothing.com and Tobi.com.  Taylor created two unique styles; the Minx, which is ultra skinny and the Geek which is more of a loose, trouser fit.

Says Taylor “All of my jeans have matte black hardware and very little detail because I like clean lines.”

I can so appreciate this!  If the design is spot-on, it doesn’t need a lot of bells and whistles.

I’ve been LUSTING after a pair of Brian Atwood nude pumps forever but sadly, my husband nor my bank account will permit me to purchase them.

Precious Cargo

June 8th, 2010

J Brand Houlihan Cargo in Vintage Olive

Skinny cargos are all the rage right now and they’re a great way to tap into that utilitarian vibe without looking like you’re ready for battle.  These ain’t your mamas cargos ladies!  The look still embodies that relaxed, reversed silhouette but it’s been updated with an even more edged out vibe.

Since it’s launch a few years ago Nicole Richie’s jewelry line, House of Harlow, has become one of the most popular amongst celebs and the general public – it doesn’t hurt that the price points are so forgiving!

Cache~Cachet

February 2nd, 2010

Owner, Rosemary Crites, has over 20 years of retail experience, specifically dealing in high-end women’s fashions.  Many of her clients, who spend good money on designer duds, had very few storage options to keep their luxury items looking new.  Sure, you can cedar, but it doesn’t hold it’s fragrance very long and who wants to smell like moth balls?  That’s when Rosemary came up with covertures!

Pono

January 26th, 2010

Founded a few years back by designer Joan Goodman, Pono is a unique collection of jewelry that gets it’s name from a dear friend of Joan’s whom she met while living in Hawaii.   Pono is equal parts vintage, modernism and nature.  The entire line is very earth conscious incorporating natural elements such as wood, shells and natural horn.

Pono has been featured on Gossip Girl, in countless magazines and seen adorning the wrists of many celebs such as Paris Hilton, Beyonce and Julianne Moore.

Shooties

January 20th, 2010

shoe + bootie = shootie

Think boots minus the shaft, usually ending at or near the ankle and having a great stacked heel.

You can rock shooties with just about anything.  I like to pair mine with boyfriend jeans or a yummy pair of skinnies.

2009: A look back at the year in fashion

December 30th, 2009

Fashionally speaking (yes, I just made up a word)  2009 was filled with many fun surprises.  Embellishments were huge as were bold, architectural, statement pieces.  The 90’s made an appearance (cursing the fact that I ditched all of my Doc Martens a few years back) but the 80’s still held strong with leggings galore, pleated pants and lots of structured shoulders – minus the “Working Girl” vibe.

Trends that will carry over into 2010 –   exposed zippers, sequins, studs, lace, leather and faux fur.

Trends that should say goodbye with 09′  – paisley, fringe (in large doses anyway) anything Ed Hardy related (gross!) and Lady Gaga.  Okay so she’s not so much a trend as a pet peeve.  I”m sorry but put some damn pants on already!

Below are some of my favorite looks from 09′.
